Ron Fuller, our Director of Quality Control & Safety, has just shared our new OSHA 300A report and our Experience Modifier Rating. In both cases they demonstrate the success and validity of our Safety Program.
The annual OSHA Report stated that we employed an average of 106 employees who worked a total of 213,571 hours and experienced “0” days of employees being away from work or on work restriction due to an injury or work related illness. Company wide for the whole of 2015, we had a single recordable incident of a minor cut that resulted in no lost time or work restriction. This is excellent for a construction firm but we believe that this year we can go one better! Back in 2005 Alpha enjoyed a completely accident free year and celebrated with a BBQ and new jackets. This is our goal for 2016: an incident free year with no recordable injuries!
The Experience Modifier Rating (EMR) is calculated for the insurance industry to apply a multiplier or “coefficient” to the cost of workers compensation insurance in order to assess our insurance premium cost for the coming year. An average construction company would expect to have a neutral adjustment or 1.00. A contractor with a poor safety record might have an upward adjustment of 1.20 or more. Alpha has been awarded a modifier of 0.89 and will receive a premium deduction of 11% for our workers compensation insurance to reflect our modifier. Most of our customers require that general contractors who work for them must post and Experience Rating Modifier of 1.0 or less. We save money and get to work for preferred customers when we operate in a safe manner.
Let’s work together to achieve an incident free 2016!
